The Langley High School Orchestras have successfully auditioned to participate in the 2008 National Youth Concert, to be held at Carnegie Hall on April 19, 2008, in New York City.  This performance will be the centerpiece of this year's Spring Trip to New York City, continuing our celebrated tradition of combining outstanding performance with fun and camaraderie. In addition to the Carnegie Hall performance, trip plans include museum tours, sightseeing, and a Broadway show.  All orchestra students are invited to participate in the trip.  We also invite parents to come as chaperones!

Trip costs will include transportation via chartered motorcoach, accommodations at the Sheraton Hotel for two nights, most meals, admission to all trip activities, and National Youth Concert fees. Final details and costs will be determined as soon as we know how many students will participate.  Therefore, we ask parents to return the trip intent form (link below) as soon as possible but no later than Wednesday, October 10, 2007 indicating whether your student will participate in the trip and the performance at Carnegie Hall.

Norah Helen McCormick was born on Monday, August 27th @ 2pm at Loudoun INOVA hospital.  She was 5 lbs 14 oz -- not bad for coming a full month early!  Both baby and mom are tired, but doing well.  Dad is awfully proud...

It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to our biggest season yet!  The schedule will include our first Halloween Spooktacular, and our first Pyramid Winter Concert.  We will be joining forces with a professional symphony for our final performance which will feature Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.  We have also been invited to perform on a very prestigious concert series in Carnegie Hall.  So, blow the dust off of your instrument, iron your famous green dress, and get ready to turn some heads with the 2007-08 version of the LHSO.

The orchestra will be holding a session for all new students on Tuesday, August 28th in the Orchestra Room at Langley HS.  Here we will measure all students for tuxes and dresses, take order for polos, distribute schedules, and answer any questions you many have about the upcoming year.  Students who cannot attend the orientation will need to make their own arrangements for formal wear later.  We'll look forward to seeing you there.
