Senior Spotlights: Francisco Yang and Riker Wilson

Francisco Yang (cello):
Favorite memory: The bus ride to Toronto was definitely a good orchestra experience with lots of fun.
What I love about LHS Orchestra: Performing music, talking with friends. A class where I can relax and still learn something.
Words of wisdom: Just have fun and participate in some orchestra trips when you can. Great experience.
Riker Wilson (cello):
Favorite memory: Stressing out 2 days before the November recording release and my files were all messed up but thankfully it all worked out. Also, sweating profusely when we dressed up as gorillas during the Halloween concert last year was super fun.
What I love about LHS Orchestra: I love that Doc isn’t afraid to let his students take charge a bit. He’s a go with the flow kinda guy which is just what an orchestra needs.
Words of wisdom: If you have a good idea, Doc will almost certainly green light it. You just gotta ask.

Senior Spotlights: Matthew Chung and Victor Mou

Matthew Chung (violin):
Favorite memory: When I got to see a couple of my friends dressed up in gorilla suits and go on the stage.
What I love about LHS Orchestra: The end of the year orchestra banquets are pretty fun. Eating good food and hanging out with friends is always fun.
Words of wisdom: Try to know a lot of people in orchestra.
Victor Mou (violin):
Favorite memory: That time on the Canada trip when all the busses broke down causing me and some other kids to stay at a Wegmans for several hours and only getting back to Langley just before classes began.
What I love about LHS Orchestra: Doc of course. Doc’s positivity bleeds into the rest of the orchestra, creating a relaxing and enjoyable environment. Another thing would be the tangible sense of progress I feel when I and the rest of the orchestra improve on a piece as we work on it.
Words of wisdom: Clean your instrument!
