Fall Concert: Strings & Wings (Oct 14, 2025)

Congratulations to the Langley Orchestra for a successful Strings and Wings concert on Tuesday, October 14th! Orchestra students and guests enjoyed snacks and beverages in Langley Hall before taking flight into a magical realm of music.

The concert featured Langley’s three orchestras: Concert, Symphonic, and Philharmonic. All three orchestras performed pieces in line with the bird theme, including the theme song from Angry Birds, a piano duet, and classical masterpieces such as Swan Lake and Vivaldi’s Spring from the Four Seasons. Soloists Gemma Shi, Leah Pang, and Zifei Zhao played beautifully, really bringing the birds in Spring to life. Finally, the concert debuted Langley Orchestra’s very own kazoo ensemble. The kazoo soloists survived a rigorous audition process, fulfilling their lifelong dreams of becoming principal kazooists for the theme of Chicken Run.

Thank you to everyone who came to listen and support the orchestra!

Pre-assessment Concert on 3/4/2025

Congratulations to the Langley Orchestra on their successful pre-assessment concert on Tuesday, March 4th! The concert featured all three of Langley’s Orchestras: Philharmonic, Symphonic, and Concert. Starting with the Philharmonic Orchestra, students performed the Holberg Suite, Op.40 “In Olden Style” by Edvard Grieg, and the Serenade, Op.10 by Ernst von Dohnanyi. Next up, Concert Orchestra played Fantasia on an Original Theme by Joseph Phillips, Allegro in D by Antonio Vivaldi, and Finale from Symphony No. 88.  Finally, Symphonic Orchestra played Themes from “The Moldau” by Bedrich Smetana (arr. Frost), the   “Unfinished” Symphony  by Franz Schubert (arr. McCashin), and Capriccio Espagnol by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (arr. Dackow). Truly an abundant amount of compositions that embody the timeless nature of classical music!
