Congratulations to the Langley Orchestra on their successful pre-assessment concert on Tuesday, February 20th! The evening started off with a reception in Langley Hall and mini-concert performed by rock band Skripture in the black box.
The concert featured all three of Langley’s Orchestras: Philharmonic, Symphonic, and Concert. Starting with the Philharmonic Orchestra, students performed the Magic Flute Overture, Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis, and Winter and Spring from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Next up, Concert Orchestra played the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Hungarian Dance No. 5, and New World Symphony. Finally, Symphonic Orchestra played Pieds-en-l’air from Capriol Suite, Mozart’s Symphony No. 25, and Slavonic Dance No. 8. During interludes, Pianist Luca Gozzi performed Dances of Argentina by Albert Ginastera and Philharmonic Violinist Aidan Mousavi played Beethoven’s Sonata No. 1 Mvt. 4. Truly an abundant amount of compositions that embody the timeless nature of classical music!
Thank you to Tri-M Art Manager Riley Seewer for designing the cover art for the concert program, as well as Pianist Luca Gozzi for his amazing piano playing in The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires! And of course, a big thank you to the Langley Orchestra Society for their support!
